Drama Magnet
The theater program is designed to develop fundamental skills in the student actor through physical and vocal training, improvisations, the study of plays and their construction, musical theater, play production, theatrical choreography, “technical theater” : costuming, set design, makeup design, publicity, props, lighting, sound and play writing. In addition to classroom experiences, students attend drama festivals, state conferences, workshops, special performances and outstanding theatrical productions.
About the Drama Audition
The Drama Audition will consist of:

Performing a self-introduced, memorized monologue
As the monologue is being prepared, it is important to note that this should not be a scene for 2 people or a poem. It may be a monologue from a play or from a book of monologues. It is recommended that the monologue be age appropriate. Monologue books can be obtained from the library, book stores or your school drama teacher, if applicable.

Singing 16 bars of music
Be prepared to sing 16 bars of music from a published musical

- All applicants must upload their instrumental karaoke music to a device prior to the audition.

Improvization
- Participating in individualized or group improvisations.

Interview
- Holding an interview to help determine the student's level of discipline, interest, and suitability for the program.

- February- Magnet Auditions - If you do not receive an audition letter by February 15, please call the magnet office immediately.
- March- Acceptance/Non-acceptance letters sent to students
- April- Registration of accepted students
