Chorus Magnet
The chorus program includes instruction in skills and techniques involved in singing and and training in creative expression. Students receive small group instruction, participate in large ensemble classes, and perform with these groups throughout the year. Chorus students progress towards maximum personal achievement in the selected music discipline.
About the Chorus Audition
The Chorus Audition will consist of:

Performance and evaluation of a prepared selection
Vocalists should prepare a solo from memory. Bring two written copies of the music for the audition judges. A simple hymn, patriotic song, folk song or ballad will be acceptable. Pop music or Broadway show tunes are not acceptable. Vocalist must bring a copy of their music on their smartphone, mp3 player, or CD (music only, no vocals). A cappella singing is not acceptable. The recommended song is Simple Gifts (see attachment below). Accompaniment will be provided only for this song.

A brief interview to gauge each child's interest level

A theory and sight-reading evaluation
Demonstration of ability in theory, sight-reading, aural memory, and creative skills.

- January 15- Magnet Applications due
- February- Magnet Auditions - If you do not receive an audition letter by February 15, please call the magnet office immediately.
- March- Acceptance/Non-acceptance letters sent to students
- April- Registration of accepted students
